There are three main impacts in Rotoru; Economic impacts, Social and Cultural impacts and Environmental impacts.

Economic impacts and issues in Rotorua are all positive impacts. Stating the obvious Rotorua town depends on tourism being one of their main Idustry because it creates many employment opportunities. Therefore Tourism provides over 6500 full time jobs for people in 2005. Moreover Tourism is alo beneficial for expensive infrastructure in providing payments for roading and water supply.

Social and Culural impacts in Rotorua reflects the Maori culture being linked together with Tourism as Business of selling culture. The Convenction centre and Bath House being increased in Facility means all citizens can enjoy these attractions.

Furthermore Environmental issues in Rotorua are all negative impacts. In example, large number of people visiting Rotorua creates pollution for the environment. Cheap geothermal in Hotels damages natural environments such as the "whakawerawera geothermal area". Moreover pressure on local facilities results from the need for water, power and sewage disposal. In advance one major problem in Rotorua is based on garbage disposal because it creates huge pollution for the Rotorua Lake which was cleaned up back in 1980s.

There are 3 main impacts in Rotorua and the Gold Coast such as Economic, Social and Culture and Environmental Impacts.

The impact of tourism on Gold Coast has creates more and more opportunities for business, which in turn provide employment for large number of people. Tourism also has other impacts in urban areas, tourists activity becomes caught up in social, cultural and environmental processes. The Gold coasts tourism outlined a five year strategy aiming to increase visitor’s number by 50% to 6.5 million and increase tourists spending to $6 billion by the year 2010. However tourism generates business development- both in Attractions and facilities but also in down stream business such as catering, construction and communication. The impact of tourism can also put a lot of pressure on local facilities and infrastructure such as water, power and sewage.

The impact of tourism in Rotorua also creates employment opportunities both direct and indirect. In Rotorua, the Maori culture is what attracts tourists across the world. Tourism also increases the profitability of facilities that can be enjoyed by all citizens such as the convention centre and the bath house. The tourism impact on the environment brings a large number of tourists to Rotorua. This can increase traffic congestion and pollution. Tourism creates an increased need for water, power and sewage disposal. This can put a lot of pressure on local facilities and infrastructure. In Rotorua Tourists generate an extra $153 million each year in downstream and also expensive infrastructure like road and water supply.

Tourism in New Zealand is New Zealand's largest export industry with about 2.4 million tourists visiting per year.thats a whole lot of randoms coming to our country! (September 2009)

New Zealand is marketed as a "clean, green" adventure playground, with typical destinations being nature areas such as Milford Sound, Abel Tasman National Park or the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and Rotorua while activities such as bungee jumping or whale watching exemplify typical tourist attractions
often marketed primarily to individual- and small-group travellers.

The impacts of tourism does have its "pros" and "Cons".

Pros-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$- where there are tourist, your Guaranteed money, 99.9% of the time tourist want to experience rides, natural features etc.... which means more money, more funds more people.

Cons-
damages to the environment will occur due to alot of people.
damages to the land due to the high demand of ficilities and infrastructures, and also a high demand of people so you will need to cater for them creating ebalution blocks.. etc......

A PERFECT EXAMPLE!

a perfect example is the 2011 Rugby World Cup!
*the Government is creating more
*roads
*toilets
*hotels
*motels

this is all to cater for the 2011 Rugby world cup!.......

TUROU HAWAIKI!!!

The impacts of tourism have many effects for tourists who love to travel. Take Rotorua for example. Rotorua in terms of tourism has a major effect on the people who enjoy visiting. Their facilities and infrastructures, e.g hotels and motels offer visitors a wide range of accomodation to stay in. Also attractions is another impact of tourism that attracts visitors every year. Attractions play a huge part in the tourisn industry as that is the main factor which effects the areas economy. Whether it benefits Rotorua or not, attractions still have a very huge part in tourism.

The growth in tourism, together with associated growth in the retail and construction industries, has over time attracted people to the Gold Coast to live and work. Because the Gold Coast is more on the developed side of Tourism, they offer more facilities more attractions that have been influenced by other big countries such as the USA.

The Impacts of Tourism in Rotorua and the Gold Coast demonstrate great tourism skills that attract more tourist to visit these places every year. Wether it be the natural springs, spatial patterns or the Buried Village of Wairoa all located in Rotorua, or the warm temperatures, white sandy beaches and the infamous theme parks like Dreamworld, Movieworld and Wet 'n' Wild, these two significant places has established a Tourism society that has affected its area socially, economically, politically, culturally and environmentally.

Although you could say that it's wonderful to have many visitors visiting, but outcomes to this are both positive and negative...

the impacts of tourism in Rotorua and the Goldcoast has seen both positiive and negative outcomes.
economically tourism has been good for the rotorua area as the Ministry of Tourism estimates that in the year 2009 3.0 million tourist from over seas has visited the area and spend $454 million during there stay.
Tourism has also created many jobs in the Rotorua area and has made Maori Culture more known internationally. In the Goldcoast tourism has created employment for many people in the area and in 2001 8500 peolpe were employed in the accomodation sector alone.

The impacts of tourism in both Settings which are the Gold Coast in Australia and Rotorua in New Zealand have the same impacts of Tourism.

Economics:
Rotorua is a town that depends heavily on tourism which is one of its three major industries such as Forestry and manufacturing are the other two. Tourism creates employment opportunities both direct and indirect.

Social:
Maori culture and tourism are closely linked and are examined in the perspectives focus: The Business of selling culture.

Environmental:
Tourism brings a large number of people in Rotorua. This can increase traffic congestion and pollution. Tourism creates an increased need of water, power and sewage disposal.

Economic:
Fifteen per cent of the Gold Coast economy is directly related to Tourism. Tourism generates business development both in attractions and facilities but also in 'downstream' such as catering, construction and communication.

Social:
Tourism increases the profitably of facilities and attractions that can be enjoyed by residents as well as visitors. The Gold coast has been described as a 'sunny place for shady people'.

Environmental:
Some people feel that the wall to wall beach concrete high rise and canal developments have ruined natural environments and are eye sore. Large numbers of extra people increase traffic congestion and pollution. In 2005 there was an average of 80,000 tourists on the Gold Coast each day.

In geography there are some different factors that make up tourism impacts such as the Social and Cultural factors including the Environmental and Political factors which commonly occur at our base study area at Rotorua and the Gold Coast in Australia.

There are also some other issues that creates some positive impacts as to encourage people to travel around the world especially our base study area. Our base study area is somehow creates some negative impacts based on tourism factors such as overcrowding at source which effect the Environmental factors and it really makes it more difficult for the government to develop most facilities and infrastructure for tourist in a very sustainable way.

From my own understanding about the impacts of tourism. Impacts of tourism is what makes up the relatioship between all the different factors of tourism. These impacts can be a positive impacts which can be good for most factors of tourism but somehow too much positive impacts of tourism on one factors can create one negative impacts and it effect all the other different factors of tourism.

The impacts of Tourism for our New Zealand Setting - Rotorua and the Gold Coast are quite significant and can leave both positive and negative impacts on the; environment, the economy and the social and cultural sectors.

ECONOMY

It is noted that tourism creates much employment opportunities for both Rotorua and the Gold Coast, although this is a positive impact, it was also noted that these job opportunities were low paying and seasonal. Another factor that had impacted both locations was expenditure or Tourism Spending, prices ranging from $3,316,000,000 which make up 15% of the Gold Coast’s Economy and Rotorua generating $447,000,000. Both of these statistics were gathered in 2005. Negative impacts that tourism has on the economy is the strain on facilities and infrastructure such as water, power and sewage, causing the government to constantly upgrade, differing to that point most of the tourism income pays for the upgrades.

The impacts of tourism have both negative and positive effects. The positive is that they attract different tourists and markets to the country or Area, providing financial opportunities and infrastructure opportunities. For places such as the Gold Coast there are many financial opportunities and jobs also became available, as the more the tourists and markets the more people that need to provide entertainment, food, etc…..The downsides though is the impact that these tourists have on the environment for example Able Tasman park, and Roto rua have suffered both pollution and influx of littering, caused by the amount of tourists that go to these areas. Although most of these areas are heavily reliant on Tourism as for places like Roto rua, and The Gold Coast it is what fuels their economy. It is both dangerous and supplementary

Tourism spending creates opportunities for businesses, which in turn give service or employment for large numbers of people. Many impacts are linked with the construction of general infrastructure such as roads, airports and of tourism facilities and hotels and restaurants. Other impacts of Tourism are tourist activity becomes caught up in social, cultural and environmental methods. Tourism has both positive and negative impacts for an area. The Negative impacts from tourism occur when the level of visitors use is greater than the environment’s ability to cope with this issue within the acceptable limits to change. The Positive impacts, income from tourism may be used to help conserve the natural environment that is the reason why visitors come in the first place and also tourism brings much needed investment into an area. And also the country can benefit from overseas investment, mainly in the tourist industry but also in other related industries.
In Rotorua they depend heavily on tourism, which is one of its three major industries. Tourism creates employment opportunities, both direct and indirect. Tourism helps pay for expensive infrastructure like roading and water supply.

GOLD COAST -->

ECONOMIC :

On the Negative side of the economy in the Gold Coast jobs in the Gold Coast related in the tourism sector are low paying and seasonal. Tourism can put a lot of pressure on the local facilities and infrastructure, such as, water, power and sewage.
On the Positive side of the economy in the Gold Coast the Tourism Industry create empolyment opportunities. 15% of the of the Gold Coast economy is related directly from the Tourism Industry. Tourism also generates business development. Mainly in attrations and facilities. Even i businesses that are portrayed as 'downstream' businesses such as, catering, constrution and communication.

ENVIRONMENTAL :

On the negative side of the Gold Coast is that people have become eye-sore towards the unappealing wall-to-wall beach concrete high-rise and canal developments and believe that this has ruined the natural environment. In 2005, there was an average amount of 80,000 tourists in the Gold Coast which then allowed large numbers of people increase traffic congestion and pollution. There are huge impacts on the environment with the demands for water, sewage facilities and power which effects the natural environments that supply their demands. Construction of high-rise buildings on the beacg has lead to erosion.
The Positives of the environment is that where all the attractions present the idea that they are very clean and that the environment is important.

Tourism in both the Gold Coast and Rotorua open up employment opportunities direct and indirect. In 2001, 8500 people were employed in the accomadation sector (Gold Coast)amongst the 36 616 people who were directly employed in tourism.
In Rotorua tourists spend around $447 million each year (2005 TRCNZ estimate)and by the end of this year, I would sky-rocket to $877 million. However in the Gold Coast, the visitor expenditure in 2005 was AU$3 316 000 000.
Tourism in Rotorua helps pay for expensive infrastructure like roading and water supply.
-
In both our case studys ; Tourism increases the profitability of facilities that can be enjoyed by residents and visitors.
Other than the impact of numbers in the Gold Coast the visitors behaviour and more likely to be the same as the locals or regulars that come there. Rotorua on the other hand are the opposite ? Even though tourism brings large numbers of people, Rotorua is still left with increasing amounts of traffic congestions and pollution.
In 2005 there were an average of 80 000 tourists on the Gold Coast each day.
Both Rotorua and the Gold Coast have pros and cons about tourism, however they put on a good impression for tourists to travel there for a few background knowlegde on our Maori History, relaxation and a good sun-tan :)

Impacts of Tourism?????

In the world of Tourism, there are 3 types of impacts and issues that affect the people and the place, and they are economic impacts and issues, Social impacts and issues and Environment impacts and issues. In addition, these 3 factors have positives and negatives.
With the continental setting that we are studing this year which is GOLD COAST, the 3 factors that I have mentioned in the beginning has a huge effect on the people especially the tourists who are attracted by this place.
In addtion, the positives about the economic impacts is that tourism in the gold coast creates employment opportunities. In 1996 36,616 people were directly employed in tourism on the gold coast. however , the negative side of this is having alot of employment opportunities can put alot of pressure on local facilities and infrastructure such as water, power and etc

What are the impacts of tourism..
.
Economic impacts and issues-

Economy is to all about money money money. In the Gold Coast the impacts of tourism in this sector has a lot more positive impacts then negative impacts. For example in the Gold coast tourism creates employment opprtunities for all of the unemployed, however jobs in this sector can be low paying and seasonal. This can have a negative effect because some people can only be payed in like two seasons and in the rest of the seasons they will be unemployed. In comparison to Rotorua. Rotoruas direct spending by tourists is around $447 million each year. For every 240 visitors to Rotorua a new full time job is created. In addition Tourism helps pay for the roading and water supply. This can have a negative effect because Rotorua is growing and growing and they are building and building new roads. As a result of this eventually they are going to have to bust down some forest areas or worse build into the farm areas.

Social and cultural impacts and issues-

In the Gold Coast the impacts of tourism in this sector has a lot more positive impacts then negative impacts for example in the gold coast the impact that tourism has attractions in the study areas that are planned to take to take in a large number of tourists which can reach up to 17 000 000 visitors. This can cause a negative effect because a large number of people dump rubbish and this causes the attractions to be contaminated. In comparison to Rotorua Maori culture and tourism are closely linked together also The Convenction centre and Bath House being increased in facilities meaning all citizens can enjoy these attractions. This can have a negative effect because…….
