LEVEL 3 E-waste - What is the big deal??

E-waste otherwise known as Electronic waste is an increasing global problem. What is the big deal?

Electronic waste (e-waste) is one of the fastest growing waste streams around the world. Rapid technological advances mean that the average computer has a life span of less than 5 years. The problem arises at the end of its useful life and is compounded by the hazardous nature of the waste. Computers contain an array of substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium or brominated flame retardants. These have all been shown to be harmful to humans and damaging to the environment.

e-waste also known as "electronical waste". anything that has electronical parts. the problem though , people aren't recycling there electronics. and if they are being recycled then the chemicals that leak off those electronics can pollute the enviroment. Enviromental groups have dicovered that the waste from developing countries are affecting countries such as india and china.

Sooooo like the e-waste problem? like wth? is up with that right? i mean, if we can recycle normal rubbish then why cant the electronical stuff be recycled the same? think about the poor fishes in the sea that could be affected by the leatches that run off the phones or dryers that are dumped in the landfills. that could be counted as "animal abuse" right? and the birdies that love to fly in the sky, they could get afeected by the polluted chemicals in the air from the greenhouse factories. OMG! soooooo not what we want for our future generations.

(and now i rest my case , thankyou haha)

BIG DEAL!!!I believe it makes the Top 10 list of BIG DEALS worldwide. Electronic waste (E-waste) is rapidly increasing in this confusing technological age, everywhere you look we are being bombarded with Electronic products from the latest cell phone to the most recent release of the I-pad. It seems like everyone wants to upgrade to a product that is faster, allows more storage of data and yet is compact enough to carry around.

BIG DEAL of course, this world is not made to withstand electronic waste, it will affect our waterways, health and natural/cultural environments. We have 1 planet to live in....WHY destroy it?

E WASTE IS DANGEROUS!

Electronic Waste is otherwise known as E Waste, E scrap or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. Its describes the waste that’s faulty, discarded, or broken electronically devices such as hard drives monitors etc.... It is a hazardous waste containing more toxins and potential harm and side effects then average everyday house-hold waste. Not only is it a threat to the communities in which E Waste is present within but it also affects the workers, and communities surrounding the landfills where E- Waste is handled. The over-exposure to some of the most Hazardous substances such as lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium or Brominated Flame Retardants not only put the people, and the communities in danger, but the environment.
E Waste is one of the largest global waste problems in the world. China alone has dumped over one million tons of television in 2007 and produces 2.3 millions tons of E waste a year. Imagine how much toxins are produced daily by their E-Waste and imagine how much damage is created not only to them but to the environment as well.
So why would people opt to dump their E-Waste rather then recycle it? This is both safer and healthier for the Environment. Where is logic? Or has greed and money overcome livelihood and survival?

So opt for recycling on E DAY instead of putting yourself, and the environment in danger!

Rapid change in the world of technology has been a huge impact on day to day life now; this has resulted in a fast growing surplus of electronic waste around this globe. We have places like “Cash for laptops” this place regards electronic as a rapidly expanding issue.

For example in the United States of America they dispose of 30 million computers each year, and 100 million phones are disposed in Europe each year. The environmental agency estimates that only 15-20% of e-waste is recycled the remaining 80% is incinerated or deposed in land fills.

The BIGEST DEAL! How do you justify this, how can you possibly only use 15-20% of recycled e-waste, where does the other 80% go?
“A Chinese child sits amongst a pile of wires and e-waste. Children can often be found dismantling e-waste containing many hazardous chemicals known to be potentially very damaging to children's health.”
The rate at which these mountains of obsolete electronic products are growing will reach crisis proportions unless electronics corporations that profit from making and selling these devices face up to their responsibilities. It is possible to make clean, durable products that can be upgraded, recycled, or disposed of safely and don't end up as hazardous waste in someone's backyard.

As Gandhi said “what we do in the present, effects what will happen in the future”
Here’s my speal! About this issue, enjoy 

According to my research E-Waste is a fast growing problem in new zealand. Every year about 80,000 tonnes of e-waste is disposed of in New Zealand. The big deal about E-waste is that it can cause harm to the environment and When e-waste is disposed of in landfills, toxins can leach into groundwater and from landfills into drinking water supplies, and mercury can leach into surrounding soils.

E-Waste or electronical waste is a big deal in terms of an environmental crisis! The problem is electronics contain hazardous substances which can cause tremendous damage to the environment and humans. Subsatances such lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium or brominated flame retardants are found in a computer. These substances can leak into the land, contaminating the environment, therefore harming humans when they use the contaminated resources from the land itself. We are trying to maintain the sustainability of our environment but with electronic waste becoming an issue it is likely that the environment would crumble before its time. E-waste can be easily recycled, where old electronics can be repaired if broken and donated to businesses or schools that lack in electronic resources. The big deal is the damage e-waste can cause damage to ourselves and environment. We want the environment to still remain the same for the future generation but at the rate we're goin, it seems that it may not happen.

E-waste is all of those old electronics that we've got that have become outdated and we don't want them anymore. As you can imagine, if you stop to think about it for a minute, technology is progressing at a very rapid pace. This is having a horrible effect on our world. There are many reasons that e-waste is becoming a such big problems.Think about the life span of cell phone for e.g.Most people won't keep their cell phones no longer than a year or two and then they'll get a new one. This is due largely in part to their low initial cost, but also planned obsolescence.Planned obsolescence is a practice that is employed by large corporations where they develop their products with the intention of having them used for a limited amount of time before they break or can't be used effectively anymore and they have to be replaced.

E-waste stands for electronic waste. Electronic waste is any thing that has power, if you plug it in at home at work or anywhere else its electronic. There is a big issue in this world today, see developed countries are paying the developing countries to dump there rubbish there. On top of that the developing countries have hardly any money to recycle or get rid of the rubbish so what happens?. The country or the island becomes a rubbish dump.

People of today dont think before they act, they dont think about tommorow the just DO DO DO and when they realise there is a big problem they turn around and blame John Key. Think about the world people, think about our Mokopuna they want to live in a clean green environment not a RUBBISH DUMP.

Electronic waste which is also known as E-waste is basically about how waste is growing around the world. E-waste is now the fastest growing component of the solid waste stream because people are upgrading their mobile phones, computers, televisions, audio equipment and printers more frequently than ever before. Mobile phones and computers are causing the biggest problem because they are replaced most often. The big deal about this is that waste can get transfer from developed countries to developing countries who are also expecting triple their e-waste production within the years to come. It can also damage or destroy our environment.

E waste also known as electronic waste, e-scrap, waste electrical and electronic equipment defines aspects which relate to electrical uses, such as computers, entertainment devices and mobile phones which contain heavy metals and hazardous substances. If leached into the soil and waterways, these substances can pollute and impact on human health.
This issue has an increasing concern in New Zealand because too many people avoid the use of a recycling tactic and use their own strategies that the electronic devices are lying around the household or dumped possibly anywhere outside of home.

come on people... leave nature alone!!!!

E-waste is a growing global problem. It can never stop. Humans these days dont even think about where they trash their electronics, and I think the big deal is that people are not recycling their electronics properly. Humans these days dont even think about how these electronics affects us if they are not recycled properly.
Anyways thats the big deal......
